Get an Initial Idea of Your Spanish Level

It is not always easy to know whether your Spanish level is A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, or C2. Many students have studied Spanish for some time, learned on their own, or lived in a Spanish-speaking environment, but they are not sure what their real level is. This general test is designed to help you understand your starting point. It includes questions from different levels and gradually increases in difficulty to give you initial guidance on your Spanish proficiency.

The result does not replace a complete assessment with a teacher, but it can help you decide which course to choose and which areas you may need to reinforce.

At PCE Spanish School, we help you find the Spanish course that best fits your experience, goals, and learning pace.

Take the General Spanish Level Test

  • Answer the test questions and find out your approximate Spanish level. You will find exercises on grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and practical use of the language.
  • The test starts with simple questions and moves toward more complex content. This allows you to get a broader initial assessment, whether you are just starting out or already have advanced knowledge.
  • Choose one answer for each question. There is only one correct option. At the end, you will see your result and an initial recommendation.

What Does the General Spanish Test Assess?

This test is designed to give you a general overview of your Spanish. That is why it includes different types of questions and language content.

  • Grammar. The test assesses basic, intermediate, and advanced structures: present tense, past tenses, future, conditional, subjunctive, connectors, and more complex sentences.
  • Vocabulary. It includes everyday vocabulary, common expressions, academic or professional language, and more precise terms depending on the level.
  • Comprehension. Some questions check whether you can understand sentences, short dialogues, simple texts, or more complex passages.
  • Practical use of Spanish. The test also evaluates whether you can choose the most appropriate response in real situations: introducing yourself, asking for information, expressing an opinion, arguing a point, or interpreting nuances.

What Result Can You Get?

At the end of the test, you will receive approximate guidance on your Spanish level. Your result may place you between A1 and C2 depending on your answers.

  • A1 — Beginner. You can communicate in a very basic way. You understand and use simple phrases to introduce yourself, greet people, ask for simple information, or talk about personal details.
  • A2 — Elementary. You can communicate in simple everyday situations. You can talk about routines, likes, family, shopping, travel, plans, and simple experiences.
  • B1 — Intermediate. You can manage with some independence. You understand clear texts, talk about experiences, express simple opinions, and deal with common situations.
  • B2 — Upper-Intermediate. You can communicate more fluently. You understand more complex texts, argue ideas, explain points of view, and use Spanish with greater precision.
  • C1 — Advanced. You can use Spanish flexibly and effectively. You understand demanding texts, express complex ideas, and adapt your language to different contexts.
  • C2 — Proficient. You can understand almost everything you read or hear. You use Spanish with great precision, naturalness, and the ability to interpret nuances.

These levels are part of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which organizes language learning into six levels.

What Should You Do After the Test?

After receiving your result, you can choose the next step according to your goals.
