What Will You Learn with the B2 Spanish Exercises?

B2 Spanish exercises will help you refine structures you already know and incorporate more advanced grammatical resources to express yourself precisely, develop complex ideas and adapt your Spanish to different situations.

At this level, it's not just about using structures correctly, but also about learning to choose the right ones depending on the context and what you want to communicate.

Express Ideas with Greater Precision and Nuance

At B2 level, you'll learn to express certainty, doubt, hypotheses, evaluations, opinions and emotions using different structures and verb moods.

You'll especially practise the contrast between the indicative and subjunctive in expressions such as “Creo que es una buena idea”, “No creo que sea suficiente”, “Es posible que llegue tarde” and “Me alegra que hayas venido”.

This will allow you to communicate not only information, but also your attitude and intention towards what you're saying.

Master More Complex Verb Structures

At this level, you'll expand your use of verb tenses and learn how to combine them to talk about hypothetical situations, possibilities, wishes and events that could have happened differently.

For example, you'll be able to build structures such as “Si tuviera más tiempo, estudiaría otro idioma” and “Si lo hubiera sabido, habría ido contigo”.

You'll also develop your understanding of different subjunctive tenses and the relationship between verb tenses within the same sentence.

Build More Natural and Organised Discourse

At B2 level, you need to be able to develop an idea beyond isolated sentences.

Connectors and other structures will allow you to build more cohesive texts and conversations using expressions such as "aunque", "sin embargo", "por lo tanto", "a pesar de", "mientras" "que" and "de ahí que".

You'll also practise reported speech to explain what other people have said, asked or explained.

The goal is to help you communicate increasingly complex ideas clearly, precisely and naturally in Spanish.

What Grammar Topics Are Covered at B2 Level?

At B2 level, you'll expand and refine the structures you learnt at previous levels. The goal is to use grammar with greater precision and flexibility, choosing the appropriate structures depending on the context and your communicative intention.

B2 Spanish grammar includes a more advanced use of the subjunctive, conditional sentences, reported speech and different discourse connectors that allow you to express nuances, formulate hypotheses and construct more elaborate arguments.

At B2 level, you'll develop your ability to choose between the indicative and subjunctive based on the degree of certainty, the speaker's intention and the type of structure used.

You will practice contrasts like “I think you're right.” y “I don't think he's right”, as well as structures related to doubt, evaluation, emotion, or possibility: “It is likely that he will come”, “I'm surprised that you know it” o “It is clear that we need to change”.

The goal is to understand that choosing a different verb mood can change how we present the same information.

In addition to the present subjunctive, at B2 level you'll expand your use of the present perfect, imperfect and pluperfect subjunctive.

You'll learn how to use forms such as haya hecho, tuviera, fuera and hubiera sabido to express past actions, wishes, evaluations and hypothetical situations.

For example: “Me alegra que hayas venido”, “Ojalá tuviera más tiempo” and “Me habría gustado que hubieras estado allí”.

At this level, you'll work with different structures to express real, possible and hypothetical conditions, as well as situations that did not happen.

You'll practise combinations such as “Si tengo tiempo, iré”, “Si tuviera tiempo, iría” and “Si hubiera tenido tiempo, habría ido”.

These structures require you to combine the indicative, subjunctive and conditional correctly depending on the meaning you want to express.

Reported speech allows you to report another person's words, questions or thoughts without repeating exactly what they said.

At B2 level, you'll practise the changes in verb tenses, pronouns and time references needed to transform sentences such as: “Mañana terminaré el trabajo” → “Dijo que terminaría el trabajo al día siguiente”.

You'll also work on reporting questions, orders, requests and recommendations.

At B2 level, it's especially important to learn how to connect ideas and organise longer pieces of speech and writing clearly and coherently.

You'll expand your use of connectors to express contrast, consequence, cause, concession and other relationships between ideas: aunque, sin embargo, por lo tanto, a pesar de, mientras que, de ahí que and other common connectors.

These resources will help you develop arguments, write more cohesive texts and express yourself more naturally in both spoken and written Spanish.

How to Practise Spanish at B2 Level

At B2 level, you can already understand and communicate relatively complex ideas in Spanish. To keep progressing, it's important to go beyond isolated exercises and use the language to argue, explain points of view, understand authentic content and express yourself with greater precision.

Our B2 Spanish exercises will help you perfect your grammar, but try to combine this practice with situations in which you have to actively use the structures you're learning.

  • Practise Grammar in Context. At B2 level, many structures depend on the speaker's intention and the context. Simply memorising a rule is therefore not always enough. When practising the indicative and subjunctive, for example, try to understand why we say “Creo que es verdad” but “No creo que sea verdad”. Paying attention to meaning will help you use these structures more naturally.
  • Read and Listen to Authentic Spanish. At this level, you can start regularly using news, podcasts, interviews, videos, articles and series in Spanish intended for native speakers. Don't just try to understand the content. Pay attention to how ideas are connected, which verb tenses are used and which expressions are used to present arguments, add nuance to an opinion or introduce a conclusion.
  • Practise Expressing and Defending Your Opinion. B2 requires you to be able to explain and defend a point of view with a reasonable degree of clarity. Choose topics that interest you and practise expressing your opinion both orally and in writing. Try using varied connectors and structures to present arguments, introduce contrasting ideas and explain causes or consequences: desde mi punto de vista, sin embargo, aunque, por lo tanto, a pesar de que...
  • Rewrite your own sentences. A good way to improve your accuracy is to try expressing the same idea in different ways. For example, transform “No fui porque estaba enfermo” into “Como estaba enfermo, no fui”, or transform a sentence from direct into reported speech. This type of practice will help you expand your linguistic resources and avoid repetitive structures.
  • Identify the mistakes you still repeat. As your level improves, some basic mistakes may persist because they have become habits. Pay attention to mistakes that repeatedly appear when you complete exercises, write or speak. Write them down, review the relevant rule and practise it again. At B2 level, correcting these small mistakes is important if you want to achieve more precise and natural Spanish.
